That one didn’t catch too much attention so maybe a tablet would. Enter the Pegatron Slate, an 11.6-inch touchscreen tablet PC powered by an Intel Atom processor. It runs Windows 7 of course. This one has a 32GB SSD for storage and boasts HDMI out.

Windows 7 may be a less bloated OS than Vista, but that doesn’t mean an Intel Atom laptop can support Aero.

No the Windows 7 version of the Netflix Watch Instantly still isn’t going to work on Extenders for Media Center, but it will include a more seamless experience than the Vista version does, like the movie info image above. Microsoft really wasn’t ready to share any more details with us, but we suspect the search is improved. The fact that they were so tight lipped leads us to believe that Microsoft is still holding back on some Windows 7 details — at least in regards to internet content and Windows 7. At this point it appears we might have to wait until the official release of Windows 7 to truly figure out if all that work to bring internet content to Windows 7 pays off.

The 0.63-inch thin Archos 9 feels pretty sturdy, but one major complaint is that it feels heavy. Archos says it only weighs 1.2 pounds, but something about the balance is wrong, because it felt heavier than that in my hands. The hardware is pretty simple—a 9-inch resistive touchscreen (no multitouch) with a few surrounding physical buttons.

MSI has confirmed some previous whisperings of a Windows 7-running, resistive touchscreen netbook which will boast Intel’s much anticipated Pine Trail chipset — the Wind U150, which should present some competition for the ASUS T91. The real question is timing for this one: MSI has also said that Intel’s chipset will arrive at CES 2010, which makes sense in the context of previous rumors we’ve heard that Acer and ASUS are freezing new netbook production until 2010, pending Pine Trail’s debut. Intel, however, has remained steadfast in its avowal that the chipset is still on track for release this year… so what does it all mean? Your guess is as good as ours. MSI also simultaneously confirms the Wind U210 for the beginning of September, on AMD’s Yukon platform. The U210 will run Windows XP and start at $379, with 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive.
