Whatever happened to the iPhone OS 4.0 that was supposedly launching alongside the iPad last January? Obviously, it didn’t happen, and like most of you, we’re also thinking that Apple will just debut it on their new iPhone 4G which is expected to be unveiled sometime in January. However, based on an anonymous tip, we might get to see a preview of it next month, on March 14th to be exact. Given that this date falls on a Sunday, everyone’s pretty skeptical about this tidbit. Nonetheless, a March preview isn’t exactly something new for Apple. If you can recall, they also gave us a glimpse of what iPhone OS 3.0 was all about back in March of last year. The date for the iPhone OS 4.0 briefing party maybe questionable, but the March preview is certainly more than plausible. Hopefully, we can get confirmation on this in the next couple of days.

It’s not version 3.2, but there’s a little stopgap out now for iPhone and iPod touch owners in the form of OS 3.1.3. According to the changelog, we can expect better battery level reporting and fixes for problems with the Japanese Kana keyboard and some mysterious issues where third-party apps would fail to launch. Sounds good to us!

Update: As usual, we’re hearing blackra1n (and presumably redsn0w) has been busted by 3.1.3, so you probably want to hold back if you’re jailbroken until you’ve gotten the all-clear.

Ion Audio launches at the CES 2010 the iTYPE desktop keyboard for iPhone and iPod touch. This new iPhone accessory is basically a computer keyboard with standard QWERTY keyboard layout and full-sized keys and a space for your iPhone/iPod touch. However, the iType can’t be used in any text input box, instead you have to type in the iType app and copy and paste to the where you want.

Could Apple’s search for a Wi-Fi software engineer be a hint that the iPhone 4G might sport 802.11n wireless? The job posting indicates that the company is looking for a worker who can implement the 802.11a and 802.11n standards, along with the existing 802.11b/g technology. With that in mind, do you think that the iPhone 4G and upcoming Apple tablet will be sporting 802.11n Wi-Fi, or will we have to continue waiting in order to get 802.11n Wi-Fi in the iPhone?

Today’s tenuous iPhone 4 rumor comes to us today from Russia, Twitter, and the letters F-O-X-C-O-N-N. The editor of Mobile Review, which has no track record on Apple rumors, is claiming Foxconn has just received an order for the next generation of iPhones. Foxconn, as you know, makes the iPhone for Apple, so that’s not exactly big news.

Now the question is: Does this mean we are going to see an earlier release of the next iPhone? Or is it going to be June, like always?

The rear logo in solid gold has 53 flawless diamonds amounting to 1ct and the front navigation button is home to a single cut very rare diamond at 7.1 cts.

The extraordinary handset was commissioned by an anonymous Australian businessman from the Gold mining industry.

That iPhone opened a whole new era is beyond doubt, but that it created a brand new profession for many people already is another positive side of it, it seems: Jailbreaking. Still remember that Square iPhone Payment System we featured a while back? We still don’t know when it will be released, but we’ve found some additional info with regards to who’s really behind this novel idea which turns any ordinary iPhone into an instant mobile credit card payment facility.

Does Jack Dorsey right a bell? Yup, he’s the man responsible for bringing Twitter to the world, and we all know how successful that is. It turns out that he’s also the one piecing the Square iPhone puzzle together which says a lot about the technical know how of the guy heading this ingenious project. Of course, Twitter is totally different from Square being that the former is a social networking platform while the latter is a bit more on the serious side as it deals with financial transactions, but who knows, he may just have another hit on his hands here.
