So the ROM included with the Windows Phone 7 Developer Tools refresh that was launched this week (to get it up to speed with the final release of Visual Studio 2010) has already been unlocked and torn apart over on xda-developers, and as you might expect, there are quite a few changes and additions in here versus what we’ve seen in the previous release. The most notable change appears to be the inclusion of Office, but we’ve also got dialer and in-call user interfaces, call history, call notifications (using Windows Phone 7’s standard notification paradigm, of course), and a method for uninstalling apps. Clearly, we’re still a long way from going final with this thing — and fortunately, Microsoft has given itself basically the rest of the year to get it good and solid. Andele, ladies and gentlemen.

If you’ve been following the news about Microsoft’s reinvention of its mobile presence, Windows Phone 7 Series, chances are you heard about how the company’s developer-friendly emulator was… modified slightly by Dan Ardelean to expose a series of applications and hubs that you weren’t supposed to see yet. Microsoft was quite gracious about it, indicating it basically expected this would happen and simply reminded everyone that these newly discovered apps are far from complete. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the unlocked version of the OS, and we’ll spell out for you exactly how you can do the same to see it for yourself.

Whatever happened to the iPhone OS 4.0 that was supposedly launching alongside the iPad last January? Obviously, it didn’t happen, and like most of you, we’re also thinking that Apple will just debut it on their new iPhone 4G which is expected to be unveiled sometime in January. However, based on an anonymous tip, we might get to see a preview of it next month, on March 14th to be exact. Given that this date falls on a Sunday, everyone’s pretty skeptical about this tidbit. Nonetheless, a March preview isn’t exactly something new for Apple. If you can recall, they also gave us a glimpse of what iPhone OS 3.0 was all about back in March of last year. The date for the iPhone OS 4.0 briefing party maybe questionable, but the March preview is certainly more than plausible. Hopefully, we can get confirmation on this in the next couple of days.

You’ve got to be one of the cool kids that shelled out a Benjamin to get into the iPhone Developer Program to get access, but if you’re already a card-carrying member, it looks like you’ve now got a green light to download beta 2 of the iPhone SDK for OS 3.2. We don’t know what’s new, changed, or removed, but presumably, most of the updates would center around the sundry changes Apple has made to support the iPad in the latest version of its mobile platform.

Back on the 21st of January when Amazon announced that it would release its Kindle Development Kit, A/K/A KDK, we heard it would begin rolling out in limited beta this month, with a wait list of people getting access to the kit as space was available. Well, that moment has arrived, and you can now sign up to receive said KDK. Our tipster wasn’t able to get the software in hand yet, but we’ll keep on the lookout for it.

It’s not version 3.2, but there’s a little stopgap out now for iPhone and iPod touch owners in the form of OS 3.1.3. According to the changelog, we can expect better battery level reporting and fixes for problems with the Japanese Kana keyboard and some mysterious issues where third-party apps would fail to launch. Sounds good to us!

Update: As usual, we’re hearing blackra1n (and presumably redsn0w) has been busted by 3.1.3, so you probably want to hold back if you’re jailbroken until you’ve gotten the all-clear.

If you’ve been counting down the hours until the next release of Firefox hits doorsteps, you can now officially reset the clock. Firefox 3.6 has dropped its beta label and shimmied out into the wide world, boasting a slew of new add-ons and features which should make even the most selective browser enthusiast jump gingerly skyward whilst clicking one’s heels. Included in the latest and greatest is support for browser thumbing via “Personas,” which seem to be a response to Chrome’s theme functionality (allowing users to change looks with one click), improved Javascript support, and most interestingly, improved support for HTML5 video, which further opens the window for all kinds of Flash-dashing activities.

Here’s some news for you iPhone user out there. iPhone OS 3.1.3 might just be around the corner, and more importantly, the next major update, iPhone OS 4.0 is already being tested as well. Details are still pretty scarce at the moment, but this is confirmed courtesy of BGR’s logs.
